In the mid-1950s, Rolex introduced the Submariner, a pioneering sports watch designed for diving, foreseeing the need for water and corrosion-resistant timepieces.
In 1954, the first Submariner was presented to the public at the famous Baselworld trade show, setting a historic milestone as the first consumer watch with a 100m water resistance rating.
The Submariner soon became the most recognized and popular luxury sports watch.
